Background: The management of patients with psychiatric disease and chest pain in the emergency department (ED) in the era of high-sensitivity cardiac troponin assays is unexplored.

Objectives: To investigate differences in management and outcomes comparing patients with versus without psychiatric disorders who present with chest pain in the ED.
