Caesarean scar endometriosis: how to make an accurate diagnosis.

Caesarean scar endometriosis is a rare condition characterised by the presence of endometrial tissue within a surgical scar following a caesarean section. A woman in her late 30s presented with a painful lump beneath her caesarean section skin scar, worsening during menstruation. Despite a previous incision and drainage procedure for a 'scar abscess', the symptoms persisted.

Low-flow apnoeic oxygenation for laryngeal surgery: a prospective observational study.

Laryngeal surgery requires a shared airway and close collaboration between surgeon and anaesthetist in order to optimise operating conditions. Apnoeic oxygenation uses the principle of aventilatory mass flow to maintain oxygenation of pulmonary capillary blood under apnoeic conditions while minimising laryngeal movement. Concerns regarding accumulation of carbon dioxide and resultant acidaemia have limited the use of the technique.

Improving the C-MAC video laryngoscopic view when applying cricoid pressure by allowing access of assistant to the video screen.

Cricoid pressure, as part of rapid sequence induction, may on occasion worsen laryngoscopic views and intubating conditions. We investigated whether allowing the assistant applying cricoid pressure to view the video laryngoscope screen would improve the laryngoscopic views compared to when they were blinded to the video screen. Laryngoscopy using the C-MAC video laryngoscope was performed in 51 patients undergoing elective general anaesthesia.
