The impact of endoscopic sinus surgery in pediatric patients with sinogenic intracranial infection: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Objective: This review aims to elucidate the role of endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS) on the outcomes of pediatric patients with sinogenic intracranial infections.

Methods: MEDLINE, Embase, and the Cochrane library were searched for articles that described the outcomes in pediatric patients who had intracranial complications of acute rhinosinusitis (ARS) and underwent ESS with or without open neurosurgical approaches (ONA) or external sinus approaches (ESA). Primary outcomes of interest include mortality, revision surgery, length of stay and neurological sequelae.

Are Positive Biopsy Margins in Melanoma Significant?: A Cohort Study of Micro- Versus Macroscopic Margin Status and Their Impact on Residual Disease and Survival.

Background: Presence of positive biopsy margins in melanoma can provoke anxiety over potential disease progression from delays to surgical excision, but their impact on outcomes is unknown. We aimed to compare the presence of residual melanoma in the surgical excision specimen and survival between patients with negative, microscopically positive, and macroscopically positive biopsy margins.

Methods: Patients with cutaneous melanoma who underwent surgical excision over a 13-year period were included.

Interventions to Reduce Psychosocial Burden in Head and Neck Cancer Patients: A Narrative Review.

Background: The diagnosis and treatment of head and neck cancer (HNC) is associated with several life-altering morbidities including change in appearance, speech, and swallowing, all of which can significantly affect quality of life and cause psychosocial stress.

Commentary: The aim of this narrative review is to provide an overview of the evidence on psychosocial interventions for patients with HNC. Evidence regarding screening tools, psychological interventions, smoking and alcohol cessation, and antidepressant therapy in the HNC population is reviewed.

Quality-of-Life Outcomes Following Endoscopic Resection of Sinonasal Inverted Papilloma.

Objectives: There is growing interest in assessing patient quality of life (QOL) following treatment of sinonasal tumors, including inverted papilloma (IP). We aimed to elucidate the natural history of postoperative QOL outcomes in IP patients treated with surgery.
