[The S2k guideline: Indications for knee endoprosthesis : Evidence and consent-based indications for total knee arthroplasty].

Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is one of the most frequent surgical procedures in orthopaedic surgery. Until now there have not been any standardized indication criteria, which might contribute to the large geographical differences in the frequency of TKA. This guideline aims to consent minimal requirements (main criteria), additional important aspects (minor criteria), as well as relative and absolute contraindications for TKA.

[S2e guideline: treatment of rheumatoid arthritis with disease-modifying drugs].

Background: Medication-based strategies to treat rheumatoid arthritis are crucial in terms of outcome. They aim at preventing joint destruction, loss of function and disability by early and consistent inhibition of inflammatory processes.

Objective: Achieving consensus about evidence-based recommendations for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis with disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs in Germany.

Knee osteoarthritis (OA) is a significant public health burden. Rates of total knee arthroplasty (TKA) in OA vary substantially between geographical regions, most likely due to the lack of standardised indication criteria. We set out to define indication criteria for the German healthcare system for TKA in patients with knee OA, on the basis of best evidence and transparent multi-stakeholder consensus.

[Memorandum of the German Society for Rheumatology on the quality of treatment in rheumatology - Update 2016].

On behalf of the Steering Committee of the German Society for Rheumatology, in 2016 the Interdisciplinary Commission on Healthcare Quality updated the 2008 memorandum on rheumatological healthcare in Germany. The update considers changes in therapeutic strategies, treatment targets as well as current structures in healthcare and the political framework. It concentrates on examination of the need for rheumatologists with a background in internal medicine and determines the gap between needs and supply.
