Intestinal ischemia and reperfusion injury (IRI) is a deadly and common condition. Death is associated with sepsis due to insufficient epithelial repair, requiring stem cell-driven regeneration, typically beginning 48 h after injury. Animal models are critical to advancing this field.

Cucurbitacins are triterpene bioactive constituents of natural products, particularly in the Cucurbitaceae plant family. The presence of cucurbitacins in seeds of the genus (pumpkin) has been only little studied. In this work, the content of cucurbitacins B, D, and E in seed oils from three cucurbits ( Duch, Linn, and Linn) was studied.

Aiming to create an innovative series of anti-colorectal cancer agents, we designed in this work hybrid triarylmethane compounds. Three hybrid triarylmethanes and their corresponding N-oxide analogues were successfully synthesized using an efficient procedure that involved connecting two triarylmethane molecules, through mono-, bi-, and triethylene glycol fragments. In our pursuit to develop more soluble molecules, we synthesized a hybrid triarylmethane featuring a lysine-based spacer through a convergent strategy involving 7 steps.

Probiotics are host-friendly microorganisms that can have important health benefits in the human gut microbiota as dietary supplements. Maintaining a healthy gut microbial balance relies on the intricate interplay among the intestinal microbiota, metabolic activities, and the host's immune response. This study aims to explore if a mixture of Heyndrickxia coagulans [ATB-BCS-042] and Lacticaseibacillus casei [THT-030-401] promotes in vitro this balance in representative gut microbiota from healthy individuals using the Triple-SHIME® (Simulation of the Human Intestinal Microbial Ecosystem).
