Locally advanced rectal cancer has traditionally been treated with chemoradiotherapy (CRT) followed by surgery and adjuvant chemotherapy. However, a new strategy, total neoadjuvant therapy, involves the administration of CRT and neoadjuvant chemotherapy with the aim of eradicating micrometastases earlier and achieving greater control of the disease. The use of total neoadjuvant therapy has shown higher rates of pathological complete response and resectability compared with CRT, including improved survival.

Lysosomal acid lipase (LAL) is a lysosomal key enzyme involved in the intracellular hydrolysis of cholesteryl esters and triglycerides. Patients with very low residual LAL activity present with the infantile severe form Wolman disease (WD), while patients with some residual activity develop the less severe disorder known as Cholesteryl ester storage disorder (CESD). We present the clinical, biochemical, and molecular findings of 23 Spanish patients (22 families) with LAL deficiency.

Retinoic acid constitutes an active that is already being used extensively in the fight against cutaneous aging. After a period in which certain scientific publications questioned its use, today there is no doubt that retinoic acid continues to be an active with wide possibilities of use when it is formulated and administered correctly. In this work we propose a new formulation that, on the basis of a modern self-emulsifying excipient, incorporates retinoic acid in its composition.

The aim of this study was to address the question of whether differences in farrowing rate and litter size after the use of different ejaculates could be predicted using the standard semen parameters under commercial conditions. In this study, a total of 1818 sows were used to evaluate the fertility predictive value of different sperm parameters. Logistic regression analysis (univariate and multivariate) was used to correlate the dichotomous farrowing rate data to the sperm parameters.
