Pleuromamma (Giesbrecht, 1898) is a cosmopolitan genus of metridinid copepods, with species that perform remarkable diel vertical migrations (DVM) and emit a bioluminescent secretion when disturbed that varies both spectrally and kinetically. Copepod bioluminescence is autogenic and uses luciferase enzymes that catalyze a luciferin, coelenterazine, to produce light. Pleuromamma possess naupliar eyes, relatively simple photosensitive structures used for many visually-guided behaviors.

Introduction: This study analyzed oncologic patient management from initial tumor diagnosis to tumor follow-up in oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMFS) in Germany.

Material And Methods: A dynamic online questionnaire with a total of 44 questions was used to generate general and specific data regarding oncologic patient management with head and neck malignancies, supportive care, and (pre-) rehabilitation from initial tumor diagnosis to tumor follow-up and head and neck cancer center (HNCC) structures in OMFS in Germany. The questionnaire was sent to 81 OMFS departments affiliated with the German-Austrian-Swiss Working Group for Tumors of the Jaw and Facial Region (DÖSAK) and the German Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (DGMKG).

Purpose: Digitalization is assuming increasing significance in dental education, as dental students are increasingly exposed to digital implant planning and contemporary technologies such as 3D printing. In this study, we present a cohort analysis aimed at assessing the potential benefits derived from the utilization of 3D prints to seamlessly translate planned procedures into real-life applications.

Methods: 21 dental students participated in a virtual planning and hands-on course across two cohorts (C1: n = 10, C2: n = 11).

Purpose: With respect to the European Union 2017 amendment of the Medical Device Regulations (MDR), this overview article presents recommendations concerning medical 3D printing in oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMFS).

Methods: The MDR were screened for applicability of the rules to medical in-house 3D printing. Applicable regulations were summarized and compared to the status of medical use of 3D printing in OMFS in Germany.

Little is known about when and how planktonic species arise and persist in the open ocean without apparent dispersal barriers. Pteropods are planktonic snails with thin shells susceptible to dissolution that are used as bio-indicators of ocean acidification. However, distinct evolutionary units respond to acidification differently, and defining species boundaries is therefore crucial for predicting the impact of changing ocean conditions.
