Electrocardiography interpretation competency among pediatric and child health residents at Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia.

Background: Electrocardiography (ECG) interpretation competency is vital to ensure the timely initiation of life-saving treatment for emergent ECG conditions. This competency has not been well-studied among pediatric and child health residents. Hence, the study aimed to determine the competency in ECG interpretation and its predictors among residents at the National University of Ethiopia.

Secondary prevention of rheumatic heart disease in Ethiopia: a multicenter study.

Background: Ethiopia has a high acute rheumatic fever (ARF) and rheumatic heart disease (RHD) prevalence, and to our knowledge, there are no data on the status of secondary prevention in children with RHD. This study describes the status of secondary RHD prevention.

Case Presentation: A 22-month-toddler girl was referred from a general hospital for cardiac follow-up to our hospital after diagnosis of severe pulmonary hypertension was made.

Background: Surgery can correct congenital heart defects, but disease management in low- and middle-income countries can be challenging and complex due to a lack of referral system, financial resources, human resources, and infrastructure for surgical and post-operative care.
