Discrimination against the female surgeon in the exercise of her profession.

Objective: To describe the discrimination experienced by the general female surgeon.

Method: Prospective, cross-sectional and descriptive study, with a survey of 30 questions, closed, anonymous, voluntary and confidential, distributed through a link in the WhatsApp chat in a closed group of female surgeons who are members of the Asociación Mexicana de Cirugía General.

Results: 146 female surgeons participated, with a response rate of 58.

[Functional evaluation and quality of life in the follow-up of patients with Charcot arthropathy treated by ankle arthrodesis with a locked retrograde nail].

Introduction: Charcot's arthropathy is a disabling non-infectious, progressive condition characterized by bony and articular destruction in patients with sensory neuropathy. In advanced cases with deformities and ankle instability, it requires a more invasive treatment as an ankle fusion with a retrograde locked intramedullary nail. It is unknown if, in these patients, the functional results of AOFAS (American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society) correlate with the quality of life ones from the EuroQol-5D test and the possible postoperative complications.

Role of Female Research at the Asociacion Mexicana de Cirugia General Annual Meeting: A Retrospective Analysis From 2013 to 2019.

Background: Academic surgery has been a traditionally male-dominated field. Female contribution remains challenging. In Mexico, there is no published evidence regarding gender disparity in academic surgery.
