Subseasonal-to-seasonal (S2S) prediction is a global effort to forecast the state of the atmosphere and ocean with lead times between two weeks and a season. This study explores the feasibility of S2S prediction of the ocean using a variety of tools including statistical analysis, a statistical-dynamical mixed layer model, and a regional, high-resolution ocean circulation model based on physical principles. Ocean predictability on S2S timescales is analyzed by compositing winter sea surface temperature (SST) anomalies in the North Atlantic with respect to the state of the Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO).

At the same time, over the last two decades, there has been increasing attention paid to the rise of populist movements globally, defined by 'the people' pushing against 'an elite' viewed as depriving the people of their sovereignty. To understand potential overlap in these two areas, this study aims to synthesise existing international evidence on linkages between populist attitudes and reduced uptake, acceptability, adherence and/or effectiveness of public health interventions.

Ultrasound plays a critical role in establishing the chorionicity and amnionicity of multiple gestations, a key predictor of the expected risk and complications, along with guiding future clinical and imaging follow-up examinations and intervals. People carrying multiple gestations will typically undergo more ultrasound examinations (and occasionally fetal MRI) than those carrying singletons, at minimum including a first trimester dating scan, nuchal translucency scan at 11 to 14 weeks, an anatomy scan at 18 to 22 weeks, and other scans in the second and third trimesters for growth and surveillance.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFObjective: Hindbrain herniation (HH) is a clinical prerequisite for prenatal repair of myelomeningocele/myeloschisis; however, a subset of patients lack HH on initial fetal imaging and may ultimately progress to exhibit herniation on subsequent prenatal or postnatal imaging. The authors sought to explore the cohort of patients without HH at the time of initial fetal consultation for myelomeningocele/myeloschisis repair to define their clinical characteristics and outcome.
Methods: From July 2016 to July 2022, patients evaluated at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Center for Fetal Diagnosis and Treatment for myelomeningocele/myeloschisis were classified into two cohorts: those with and those without HH.
