Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to compare the length of the levator ani hiatus and the occurrence of cystocele in postpartum women at risk of pelvic floor dysfunction using transperineal ultrasound in both standing and supine positions.
  • Conducted on 100 women who delivered vaginally, the research found that the measurement of hiatal diameter and cystocele detection were significantly higher while standing compared to lying down.
  • The results suggest that performing ultrasound in the standing position is more effective for identifying pelvic floor issues, which could impact how healthcare providers evaluate and manage postpartum pelvic health.

Background: The aim of this study was to retrospectively evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of the Knutson's paste, a solution composed of saccharose and povidone-iodine, in the management of perineal dehiscence following repair of post-partum laceration or episiotomy.

Methods: Thirty-seven women with post-partum perineal dehiscence were included in the study, conducted between September 2020 and December 2022. Patients self-applied the Knutson's paste three times per day for 14-21 days.

Objective: We aimed to retrospectively evaluate obstetric and neonatal outcomes in patients who underwent ultrasound-indicated and rescue cervical cerclage and to identify predictors for cerclage failure and consequent preterm birth (PTB).

Materials And Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis on singleton pregnancies between 16 and 27 weeks of gestation who presented with a transvaginal sonographic cervical length (TVS-CL) <25 mm and a previous PTB/second-trimester miscarriage or prolapsed amniotic membranes and/or a TVS-CL <15 mm and underwent cervical cerclage at Mangiagalli Center, Milan, between September 2011 and December 2021. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were used to identify possible predictive factors of cerclage failure.

Purpose: The differentiation between conditions such as uterine arteriovenous malformation, pseudoaneurysm, gestational trophoblastic disease, and retained trophoblastic tissue can be challenging. Ultrasound imaging and Doppler interrogation are the primary diagnostic tools to assess cases of enhanced myometrial vascularity and differentiate intrauterine vascular anomalies. However, some cases remain of difficult differentiation.

Objective: To predict birth weight at various potential gestational ages of delivery based on data routinely available at the first antenatal visit.

Design: Individual participant data meta-analysis.

Data Sources: Individual participant data of four cohorts (237 228 pregnancies) from the International Prediction of Pregnancy Complications (IPPIC) network dataset.
