Platelets are crucial players in hemostasis and thrombosis, but also contribute to immune regulation and host defense, using different receptors, signaling pathways and effector functions, respectively. Whether distinct subsets of platelets specialize in these diverse tasks is insufficiently understood. Here, we employed an in vivo pulse-labelling method in Mus musculus models for tracking in vivo platelet ageing and its functional implications.

Thus, commercially available nucleic acid test (NAT) assays for highly sensitive detection of parvovirus B19 DNA validated for the specimen cord blood plasma (CBP) are required to avoid parvovirus B19 transmission by umbilical hematopoietic stem cell preparations.
Methods: The multiplex cobas DPX NAT assay was validated for detection of parvovirus B19 DNA in CBP derived from citrate anticoagulated UCB units which have been processed by the Rubinstein method.
Background: Therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) is a well-known apheresis technology since many years and is available worldwide. Myasthenia gravis is one of the first neurological diseases successfully treated with TPE. TPE is also frequently applied in acute inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (Guillain-Barré syndrome).

However, data on healthy older adults are scarce. Therefore, data on body composition, physical performance and macronutrient intake from older adults (n = 326, 59.

Those factors are known to contribute to health issues in the later years of life. The main goal of this intervention study was to investigate the effect of different vitamin D supplementation strategies for 4 weeks solely or combined with a 10-week strength training program on chromosomal stability in peripheral blood mononuclear cells in community-dwelling older people.
