Survival in Patients with Neovascular Glaucoma Following Tube Shunt Implant or Cyclodestructive Procedure.

Purpose: The study purpose was to assess patient survival after tube shunt implant or cyclodestructive procedure for neovascular glaucoma and to determine whether specific preoperative factors are predictive of survival.

Materials And Methods: A retrospective chart review was performed on patients with neovascular glaucoma who underwent tube shunt implant and/or cyclodestructive procedure between January 2002 and December 2019 at the Minneapolis Veterans Affairs Health Care System. Patient survival was compared to the age and gender-matched Minnesota population.

Choroidal hemorrhage, preplaced sutures, and host-over-donor keratoplasty.

An old and currently seldom used technique, true preplaced sutures, is described in a case that was high risk for choroidal hemorrhage (CH). A penetrating keratoplasty technique, termed graft-over-host technique, was used allowing the surgeon to expeditiously close the eye in the event of CH. After partial-thickness trephination, true preplaced sutures through the corneal host tissue were passed.

Long-term viability of allogenic donor stroma.

We report the clinical history and histopathology of the longest known postoperative course of a myopic cornea lenticule implanted via epikeratoplasty that also had been subjected to excimer laser and mitomycin. Despite the mechanical and photochemical processes the allogenic cornea stroma had sustained, it is notable that it retained structural integrity and clarity. This report affirms the potential long-term clarity and resilience of allogenic stromal cornea and supports its use as a potential stabilizing option in cornea allogenic intrastromal ring segments for keratoconus and variations thereof for other cornea disorders.
