Article Synopsis
  • Digital papillary adenocarcinoma (DPA) is a rare and often misdiagnosed malignant tumor, commonly mistaken for benign conditions, leading to delayed diagnosis and treatment.
  • A 57-year-old man with recurrent finger infections was ultimately diagnosed with DPA after a surgical evaluation and biopsy revealed both infection and the tumor, necessitating surgical removal.
  • Accurate diagnosis is vital due to the tumor's tendency for recurrence and metastasis, particularly to the lungs and lymph nodes, and current treatment primarily involves surgical excision with focus on achieving negative margins.

Objective: An increased risk of primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) has been reported in patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc). Our study aims to investigate the shared genetic susceptibility between the two disorders and to define candidate causal genes using cross-phenotype GWAS meta-analysis.

Methods: We performed cross-phenotype GWAS meta-analysis and Bayesian colocalization analysis for SSc and PBC.

Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) are at the forefront of treating the global health crisis of diabetes mellitus (DM) and obesity. However, the demand for GLP-1 RAs has far outstripped its supply and comes with a high monthly cost. Thus, the development of GLP-1 RA biosimilars can potentially address these barriers by providing greater access to medications that provide clinical outcomes similar to those of the reference products.

Objective: To investigate the association between systemic sclerosis (SSc) clinical features and the extent and progression of coronary artery calcifications.

Methods: We conducted a single-center retrospective cohort study of patients with SSc. In our primary aim, we investigated the association between SSc clinical features and the annual progression of coronary artery calcium (CAC) scores quantified using the visual ordinal scoring method.
