Evaluation of medicine use behaviors of adult patients in a rural area: A cross-sectional study from Turkey.

Background/purpose: This study aimed to determine the medicine usage behaviors of patients (>65 years) registered to the family health care center (FHCC) in a rural area.

Methods: This cross-sectional and descriptive study was performed on 224 geriatric patients admitted to the FHCC in Terme town of Samsun between January 2018 and March 2018. The questionnaire consisting of 29 questions about sociodemographic characteristics, knowledge of drugs, and usage habits was applied to the participants by using the face-to-face interview technique.

Use of CRP/lymphocyte ratio as a predictor of treatment selection and mortality in COVID-19 patients in the intensive care unit.

This study primarily aimed to examine the significance of the C-reactive protein to lymphocyte ratio (CLR), a key marker of inflammation, in relation to the disease progression and management of COVID-19 patients admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU). A total of 464 patients aged 18 years or older, diagnosed with COVID-19 and admitted to the ICU between April 1, 2021, and February 1, 2022, were included in the study. Sociodemographic, laboratory, radiological, and clinical data were collected for each patient.

The novel non-peripheral octa-substituted zinc(II) phthalocyanines with 3- and 4-pyridinepropoxy substituents were synthesized via cyclization of substituted phthalonitriles and further characterized. Their photodynamic and sonodynamic activity were then assessed toward bacteria and cancer cells. Additionally, inhibition activity against common human enzymes was evaluated.
