Article Synopsis
  • A survey was conducted among 95 maternity centers in Pennsylvania to assess current practices of Skin to Skin Care (SSC), with 67% responding to the survey.
  • The majority permitted SSC after vaginal (100%) and cesarean (55%) deliveries, with education provided to families about safe practices; however, 40% reported being aware of adverse events such as falls and suffocation.
  • The findings highlight the need for better education and standardized practices to minimize risks associated with SSC, particularly concerning supervision and safety during this process.
