We investigated the action of mexicor on functional indices of erythrocytes and the structure of myocardial microcirculation in rats suffered from traumatic brain injury (TBI). At 3, 7 and 12 day after TBI we measured the concentration of 2,3-diphosphoglycerate (2,3-DPG), the degree of erythrocyte aggregation and their electrophoretic mobility (EPME) in the blood of rats, and also analyzed sections of left ventricular myocardium. During the first day after the TBI we observed a decrease in EPME, an increase of erythrocyte aggregation and an increase of 2,3-DFG concentration in erythrocytes compared with intact animals.

Techniques that allow the elements present in the air to be determined in a simple and rapid manner are very attractive. Direct aerosol sampling techniques avoid the need to pretreat the filter via wet digestion in order to remove any sources of contamination, and they decrease the precipitation time significantly. Analyzers based on this technique can also determine the concentrations of elements in the air automatically in situ.

Expression of muscarinic cholinergic receptors (m-AchR) on thymocytes and lymphocytes supports a hypothesis of direct interaction between autonomic innervation and the immune system. Using a muscarinic antagonist, [3H]quinuclidinyl benzilate ([3H]QNB), we revealed different characteristics of m-AchR expression in lymphocytes isolated from the spleen, peripheral blood or thymus of Wistar rats. To further explore the mechanisms controlling m-AchR expression in lymphocytes we have addressed two questions: (i) whether local brain lesions will affect [3H]QNB binding activity of lymphocytes and (ii) whether different antigens will alter m-AchR expression in lymphocytes.
