No existing studies compare oral anticoagulants to treat heparin-induced thrombocytopenia with or without thrombosis (HIT/HITT). This retrospective study evaluated thrombotic and bleeding outcomes in adults treated for HIT/HITT with a direct oral anticoagulant (DOAC) or warfarin between 2012 and 2023 within the Ochsner Health System. Patients with mechanical heart valves, valvular atrial fibrillation, antiphospholipid syndrome, active malignancy, or venous thromboembolism (VTE) within the previous 6 months were excluded.

Background: Evidence supporting venous thromboembolism (VTE) prophylaxis with direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) in patients with nephrotic syndrome (NS) is limited to case reports.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to compare bleeding and thromboembolic events in this population.

Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted in adults with NS initiated on a DOAC or warfarin for VTE prophylaxis between January 2013 and July 2021 within the Ochsner Health System.

Dry matter intake, lactation performance, and chewing behavior of multiparous Holstein cows (n = 15) fed diets containing a novel bm3 corn silage hybrid with floury kernel genetics were compared with cows fed diets containing commercially available conventional and bm3 hybrids using a replicated 3 × 3 Latin square design with 28-d periods. Cows were housed in tiestalls, milked 3 times/d, and fed a total mixed ration containing 49.0% (dry matter basis) of (1) a conventional corn silage hybrid (CONV); (2) a brown midrib bm3 hybrid (BMR); or (3) a bm3 hybrid with floury kernel genetics (BMRFL).

In human life, social context requires the engagement in complex interactions among individuals as the dynamics of social networks. The evolution of the brain as the neurological basis of the mind must be crucial in supporting social networking. Although the relationship between social networking and the amygdala, a small but core region for emotion processing, has been reported, other structures supporting sophisticated social interactions must be involved and need to be identified.
