Factors involved in gastrointestinal bleeding in advanced cancer patients followed at home.

There is a lack of information on the frequency of symptomatic gastrointestinal bleeding in patients with advanced cancer. This group of patients presents several risk factors for developing gastrointestinal bleeding. The aim of this multicenter longitudinal survey was to assess the frequency of gastrointestinal bleeding and possible factors implicated in advanced cancer patients followed at home.

[Ceftazidime in the treatment of Weil's disease].

We present a case report of leptospirosis with acute renal failure and hepatic dysfunction. Aspecific clinical presentation and serologic tests do not help therapeutic choices. The patient received 18 sessions of hemodialysis and early treatment with intravenous ceftazidime 1 g tid (under the impression of Gram- sepsis).

Nutritional status changes in HIV-infected children receiving combined antiretroviral therapy including protease inhibitors.

Maintaining linear growth and weight gain in HIV-infected children is often difficult. Nutritional evaluation and support are recognised as important factors to improve their quality of life. Combination antiretroviral therapy including protease inhibitors (HAART) reduces HIV-viral load and improves survival, quality of life and nutritional status.
