A comparative analysis of the distribution and the frequency of multiaberrant cells (MAC) among lymphocytes in different categories of low dose (up to 0.5 Gy) irradiated people was carried out. The highest MAC frequency was observed in people exposed to alpha-radiation (Pu, Rn) and in cosmonauts.

MAC were discovered in different groups of the population exposed to the radiation factor. No such cells were found in the control groups.

The frequencies of unstable (conventional method) and stable (FISH-method) chromosome aberrations have been analyzed. 50 years after the beginning of working under the conditions of the increased radiation level the differences (in comparison with control values) were revealed for all cytogenetic parameters.

The parameters studied are frequency of unstable chromosomal aberrations and frequency of symmetrical translocations. The authors show that, in spite of long term after irradiation, average frequency of cells with dicentrics and centric fusions (unstable chromosomal aberrations) remains relatively high.

A RIKh-5M device used as a counter of human radiations, its technical data and calibration methods were described. A retrospective analysis has shown that the main accumulation of radionuclides occurred before May 15 1986.
