Development and characterization of a new set of genomic microsatellite markers in rice bean (Vigna umbellata (Thunb.) Ohwi and Ohashi) and their utilization in genetic diversity analysis of collections from North East India.

Rice bean [Vigna umbellate (Thumb.) Ohwi and Ohashi] is an underutilized crop believed to be domesticated in the Myanmar-Thailand region of Asia. In India, rice bean is mainly cultivated in the North-Eastern Hills, which is a hotspot for biological diversity.

Efficacy of random primer-pair arrays in plant genome analysis: a case study of Cucumis (Cucurbitaceae) for identification of wild and cultivated species.

The efficacy of random primer-pair arrays compared to conventional RAPD method with a single decamer primer was evaluated using DNA from two species of Cucumis. The banding patterns of amplicons revealed enhanced utility of primer-pair arrays over conventional RAPDs, producing more bands and a higher degree of polymorphism, both at intra- and inter-specific levels. Amplification produced by both methods clearly distinguished a wild from a cultivated species of the genus Cucumis.

Fibroadenoma with squamous metaplasia.

Fibroadenoma is the most common benign breast tumour in adolescent and young women. Squamous metaplasia in fibroadenoma is not a common finding and has not yet been reported in northeast India. Squamous metaplasia in fibroadenoma probably arises from the myoepithelial cells.

Fine needle aspiration cytology of liver: a study of 202 cases.

From January 1990 to December 2000, 202 patients with clinical evidence of liver disease underwent fine needle aspiration cytology of the liver. Of these, 102 patients were diagnosed as non-neoplastic lesions. These include diffuse parenchymal disease of liver, liver abscess, hepatitis, and granulomas.

AIDS related malignant disease at regional institute of medical sciences.

26 AIDS patients within a period of 3 years were studied for associated malignant disease. There were 4 associated malignancy. The commonest AIDS associated malignant disease found is Kaposi's sarcoma seen in 2 patients.
