Tunneled hemodialysis central venous catheters prevalence and bloodstream infection rates in Northern Italy: A survey of the "East Lombardy Nephrological Network".

Background: Tunneled central venous catheter (tCVCs) is a vascular access frequently employed in hemodialysis patients. Catheter-related bloodstream infections (CRBSI) are potentially life-threatening complications.

Methods: We performed a retrospective survey regarding tCVCs prevalence as well as the CRBSI incidence and management within five hospitals in the Brescia province belonging to the "East Lombardy Nephrological Network"; this study was based upon 18 queries regarding the years 2020 and 2021.

This study investigated the associations among lifestyle profiles (including diet, alcohol consumption, physical activity, cigarette smoking, and cardiovascular screening), sociodemographic factors (gender, age, education, and family history of CVDs), and psychological factors (sense of coherence and dispositional optimism).

Acute heart failure due to COVID-19 related myocardial injury and de novo hypertensive cardiomyopathy: a challenging diagnosis.

We report a COVID-19 case with acute heart and kidney failure in a healthy young male. Echocardiography showed severe systolic and diastolic left ventricle dysfunction, with diffuse myocardial thickening. Cardiac MRI showed aspects of focal myocarditis, and hypertensive cardiomyopathy.

Minimally invasive treatment of long bone non-unions with bone marrow concentrate, demineralized bone matrix and platelet-rich fibrin in 38 patients.

To determine the efficacy of percutaneous injection of autologous bone marrow concentrated (BMC), demineralized bone matrix (DBM), and platelet rich fibrin (PRF) in the treatment of long bone non-unions. From January 2011 to January 2018 patients with non-union of the lower limbs who were on the waiting list for open grafting with established tibial or femoral non-union and minimal deformity were eligible to participate in this study. Patients were treated with a single percutaneous injection of DBM, BMC and PRF.

The SARS-CoV-2 epidemic is pressuring healthcare systems worldwide. Disease outcomes in certain subgroups of patients are still scarce, and data are needed. Therefore, we describe here the experience of four dialysis centers of the Brescia Renal COVID Task Force.
