In recent years, the escalation of industrial activities has significantly increased natural resource pollution, with air pollution becoming a major cause of diseases affecting living organisms. To address this critical environmental challenge, this study proposes a comprehensive air pollution monitoring system utilizing advanced technological instruments based on the Internet of Things (IoT). The system's primary objective is to provide precise, rapid, and efficient measurements, enabling detailed examinations of pollutant behaviors and facilitating data dissemination.

Background: Frailty is a common geriatric syndrome often coexisting with cardiovascular diseases such as atrial fibrillation (AF) and heart failure (HF) with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). While catheter ablation (CA) has demonstrated efficacy in reducing major adverse cardiovascular events and improving mortality and quality of life, the influence of frailty among this population remains unknown.

Objectives: The authors aimed to identify the prevalence of frailty among patients with HFrEF and AF undergoing CA and its influence on cardiovascular mortality and discharge disposition.

Agenesis or hypoplasia of the internal carotid artery (ICA) may easily be confused with dissection or occlusion. We report a case of a 24-year-old female with complaint of acute left-hand hypoesthesia and a history of occasional intermittent numbness of her right hand with myoclonic jerking. Because previous imaging studies over 2 years were interpreted as occlusion of the left ICA secondary to carotid dissection, the treating physician had prescribed anticoagulant therapy.

This paper describes a new methodology for carrying out quantitative extraction of cloxacillin from drinking and river water samples using a molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) as a selective sorbent for solid-phase extraction (MISPE). Several polymers were synthesized via thermal polymerization using cloxacillin as a template, methacrylic acid (MAA) as a functional monomer, ethyleneglycoldimethacrylate (EGDMA) as a cross-linker and different solvents as porogens. Binding characteristics of the adequate molecularly imprinted and non-imprinted (NIP) polymers were evaluated via batch adsorption assays following the Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms and Scatchard assays.

Objectives: To examine whether a fluid resuscitation strategy based on guidelines (at least 30 mL/kg IV crystalloids) vs. a restrictive approach with <30 mL/kg within three hours affects in-hospital mortality in patients with sepsis and a history of heart failure (HF).

Data Sources: On 03/07/2023, we searched Embase, PubMed, and Scopus for peer-reviewed papers and abstracts using the PRISMA guidelines.
