Objectives: To describe the real-world use of Elastic Venous Compression Devices (EVCDs) during pregnancy and post-partum using data from a representative subset of the French National Health Insurance Claims Database (the Echantillon Généraliste des Bénéficiaires, EGB).

Study Design: Women aged 15-49 who were pregnant between 1st July 2017 and 15th June 2018 were identified in the EGB using pregnancy-specific acts (certain prenatal examinations or deliveries). Subgroups were defined by age, presence of Venous Thrombo-Embolism (VTE) risk factors, history of VTE, delivery type and time period.

Article Synopsis
  • - This study (BZK40+) investigated the effectiveness and safety of a spermicide containing benzalkonium chloride in women aged 40 and above, aiming to assess its contraceptive efficacy over 12 months.
  • - A total of 151 women participated, with a high retention rate; 95.4% completed the initial 6-month phase, and 41.7% opted to continue for another 6 months, applying the spermicide in 96.3% of their sexual encounters.
  • - Remarkably, the study reported a Pearl Index of 0 pregnancies during the 12-month period, indicating effective contraception, but the authors suggest caution in interpreting these results due to the usual lower efficacy of spermicides

Objective: An empirical treatment of infectious vaginitis is justified because of its multiple etiologies, the frequent uncertainty of clinical diagnosis and limits of microbiological analysis. Our aim was to comparatively investigate nystatin-neomycin-polymyxin B combination (NNP, Polygynax) and miconazole.

Patients And Methods: In this European multicenter, double-blind PRISM trial, participating women presenting with infectious vaginitis were randomized to receive one vaginal capsule containing either NNP for 12 days or miconazole for 3 days followed by 9 days of placebo.
