Article Synopsis
  • The study explores factors influencing the start and stop of anti-IL-6 biologic DMARDs versus other bDMARDs in rheumatoid arthritis patients.
  • It analyzed data from a Welsh health database, focusing on treatment initiation and outcomes like infections and hospitalizations.
  • Findings show that anti-IL-6 bDMARDs were often chosen by patients with prior infections or kidney issues, and these patients had a lower treatment discontinuation rate compared to those on non-anti-IL-6 therapies.

Background: Approximately half of patients with localised, high-risk soft tissue sarcoma of the extremity develop metastases. We aimed to assess whether the addition of pembrolizumab to preoperative radiotherapy and surgery would improve disease-free survival.

Methods: We completed an open-label, randomised clinical trial in patients with grade 2 or 3, stage III undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma or dedifferentiated or pleomorphic liposarcoma of the extremity and limb girdle.

Energy is a common currency for any living organism, yet estimating energy expenditure in wild animals is challenging. Accelerometers are commonly used to estimate energy expenditure, via a dynamic body acceleration (DBA) or time-energy budget approach. The DBA approach estimates energy expenditure directly from acceleration but may lead to erroneous estimates during inactivity when acceleration is zero but energy expenditure is not.

EWS fusion oncoproteins underlie several human malignancies including Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumor (DSRCT), an aggressive cancer driven by EWS-WT1 fusion proteins. Here we combine chromatin occupancy and 3D profiles to identify EWS-WT1-dependent gene regulation networks and target genes. We show that EWS-WT1 is a powerful chromatin activator controlling an oncogenic gene expression program that characterizes primary tumors.
