Effects of Hypomethylating Agents on Gene Modulation in the Leukemic Microenvironment and Disease Trajectory in a Mouse Model of AML.

Hypomethylating agents (HMAs), such as decitabine and 5-azacytidine (AZA), are valuable treatment options for patients with acute myeloid leukemia that are ineligible for intensive chemotherapy. Despite providing significant extensions in survival when used alone or in combination, eventual relapse and resistance to HMAs are observed. The mechanisms leading to these outcomes are still not well defined and may, in part, be due to a focus on leukemic populations with limited information on the effects of HMAs on non-leukemic cells in the blood and other tissue compartments.

Tumor-Colonizing Expressing Both Collagenase and Hyaluronidase Enhances Therapeutic Efficacy of Gemcitabine in Pancreatic Cancer Models.

Desmoplasia is a hallmark feature of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) that contributes significantly to treatment resistance. Approaches to enhance drug delivery into fibrotic PDAC tumors continue to be an important unmet need. In this study, we have engineered a tumor-colonizing -based agent that expresses both collagenase and hyaluronidase as a strategy to reduce desmoplasia and enhance the intratumoral perfusion of anticancer agents.

Scaling-Out Digitally Enabled Integrated Care in Europe Through Good Practices Transfer: The JADECARE Study.

Introduction: The absence of a coordinated approach to health and social care compromises the ability of health systems to provide universal, equitable, high-quality, and financially sustainable care. Transferring evidence-based practices focused on digitally-enabled integrated care to new contexts can overcome this challenge if implementation is satisfactory. This paper presents the scaling-out methodology that JADECARE has designed to spread effective innovative practices across Europe.

Introduction: This paper outlines the design, implementation, and usability study results of the patient empowerment process for chronic disease management, using Patient Reported Outcome Measurements and Shared Decision-Making Processes.

Background: The ADLIFE project aims to develop innovative, digital health solutions to support personalized, integrated care for patients with severe long-term conditions such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, and/or Chronic Heart Failure. Successful long-term management of patients with chronic conditions requires active patient self-management and a proactive involvement of patients in their healthcare and treatment.
