Umbilical Artery Thrombosis (UAT) is an extremely rare complication of pregnancy strongly associated with severe fetal distress and death. The pathogenesis is still unclear but it is often associated with anatomical cord abnormalities that leads to blood stasis and thrombosis formation. Other possible risk factors are maternal thrombophilia, autoimmune disease, gestational diabetes, hypertension disorders of pregnancy and Rh-alloimmunization.

Early onset fetal growth restriction (FGR) is one of the main adverse pregnancy conditions, often associated with poor neonatal outcomes. Frequently, early onset FGR is associated with early onset hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP), and in particular preeclampsia (PE). However, to date, it is still an open question whether pregnancies complicated by early FGR plus HDP (FGR-HDP) and those complicated by early onset FGR without HDP (normotensive-FGR (n-FGR)) show different prenatal and postnatal outcomes and, consequently, should benefit from different management and long-term follow-up.

Microbial diseases have been declared one of the main threats to humanity, which is why, in recent years, great interest has been generated in the development of nanocomposites with antimicrobial capacity. The present work studied two magnetic nanocomposites based on graphene oxide (GO) and multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs). The synthesis of these magnetic nanocomposites consisted of three phases: first, the synthesis of iron magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs), second, the adsorption of the photosensitizer menthol-Zinc phthalocyanine (ZnMintPc) into MWCNTs and GO, and the third phase, encapsulation in poly (N-vinylcaprolactam-co-poly(ethylene glycol diacrylate)) poly (VCL-co-PEGDA) polymer VCL/PEGDA a biocompatible hydrogel, to obtain the magnetic nanocomposites VCL/PEGDA-MNPs-MWCNTs-ZnMintPc and VCL/PEGDA-MNPs-GO-ZnMintPc.

The majority of the morbidity and mortality related to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) occurs in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Despite the increasing burden of COPD, disease-specific knowledge among healthcare workers and patients in LMICs remains limited. COPD knowledge questionnaires (COPD-KQ) are valid and reliable tools to assess COPD knowledge and can be employed in settings with limited health literacy.

Introduction: Asthma is the most common chronic disease among children worldwide, with 80% of asthma-related deaths occurring in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). While evidence-based guidelines exist for asthma treatment and management, adoption of guideline-based practices is low in high-income country and LMIC settings alike. While asthma prevalence among children and adolescents in Lima, Peru is in the range of 13%-19.
