Exposure to the environmental pollutants organotins is of toxicological concern for the marine ecosystem and sensitive human populations, including pregnant women and their unborn children. Using a placenta cell model, we investigated whether organotins at nanomolar concentrations affect the expression and activity of 11β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 2 (11β-HSD2). 11β-HSD2 represents a placental barrier controlling access of maternal glucocorticoids to the fetus.

Personal observations of 22 patients with permanent inhibited ventricular PM for SSS during the period July 1976-February 1979 and re-examined with electrophysiological study after a follow-up made for an average period 25,5 months (14 to 49 months), after PM inhibition from the outside are presented. Patients were divided into 2 groups (group 1 with bradycardia and group 2 with brady-tachy arrhythmia). In spite of relative exiguity and uniformity of this casuistry, the conclusion is drawn that CSNRT and atropine test were more significant than SACT, in particular in forms with less pathological electrophysiological parameters.

After our study on 72 patients over 70 years, admitted to a coronary care unit since january 1975 to december 1977 and compared with a control group of 119 patients under 70 years, we found that the hospital mortality rate was of 32% for the geriatric subjects and of 9,3% for the control group. Women over 70 years had a higher mortality: 14 (over 72) to 3 (over 119). The AMI was the more diffused, with a death percent rate higher (40%) than infarctions elsewhere localized.
