To develop safe and effective management policies, it is important to understand the physiologic effects of fishing interactions and scientific research methods on endangered marine species. In the present study, validated assays for plasma corticosterone, free thyroxine (fT4), and aldosterone were used to assess the endocrine status of 61 presumed healthy, wild Kemp's ridley sea turtles () that were captured for separate ecological studies using two capture methods (trawl net n = 40; manual capture n = 21). Plasma hormone concentrations were also assessed in relation to eight clinical plasma biochemical analytes.

Squalene-based adjuvants like MF59, and its research alternative AddaVax, induce transient muscle injury, but their working mechanisms downstream of muscle injury remain unclear. We show that an AddaVax-adjuvanted quadrivalent inactivated influenza virus vaccine (QIV) intramuscular injection triggers muscle regeneration-like immune processes and increases CX3CR1Ly6C macrophages in the muscle and inguinal lymph nodes by day 4 post-injection. This leads to a Th2 skewed vaccine response with higher levels of vaccine specific IgG1 titers, and Th2-associated cytokines in the lungs 5 days after subsequent influenza viral challenge.

Therapeutic monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) can be functionally enhanced via Fc engineering. To determine whether pairs of mAbs with different Fc modifications can be combined for functional complementarity, we investigated the activity of two HIV-1 mAb libraries, each equipped with 60 engineered Fc variants. Our findings demonstrate that the impact of Fc engineering on Fc functionality is dependent on the specific Fab clone.

Background And Objectives: Persons living with dementia can experience confusion in terms of orientation to time, place, and scenario. The ways care partners respond are apt to shape quality of life and care experiences. With a focus on assisted living (AL) residents with dementia, we seek to: 1) examine differing realities and care partner responses and 2) identify influential resident and care partner factors, other contributing contextual conditions, and response outcomes.

Background: Androgen receptor pathway inhibitors (ARPI) in combination with docetaxel (Doc) and androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) has improved outcomes for men with metastatic hormone sensitive prostate cancer (mHSPC). We hypothesized that combining ADT with Doc and enzalutamide (Enz) would improve the 52-week prostate-specific antigen (PSA) complete response (CR) rate compared to a historical control with ADT + Doc.

Methods: In a single arm phase II trial, treatment-naïve patients with mHSPC received ADT + Doc every 3 weeks up to 6 cycles and Enz daily until progression.
