Introduction: Limited evidence exists on health system characteristics associated with initial and long-term prescribing of opioids and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) following total hip and knee arthroplasty (THA/TKA), and if these characteristics differ among individuals based on preoperative NSAID exposure. We identified orthopedic surgeon opioid prescribing practices, hospital characteristics, and regional factors associated with initial and long-term prescribing of opioids and NSAIDs among older adults receiving THA/TKA.

Materials And Methods: This observational study included opioid-naïve Medicare beneficiaries aged ≥65 years receiving elective THA/TKA between January 1, 2014 and July 4, 2017.

This research addresses the issue of the heritage preventive conservation in the perspective of energy sustainability, for contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and towards the EU Green Deal. The study analyses and compares four cases associated with different microclimate thresholds as suggested by the standard EN 16893:2018 (Cases 1-3) and as derived from the outputs of three degradation models for preserving paper, wood, and canvas paintings (Case 4). Weather-based indices (degree and gram days) were calculated to estimate trends in the potential energy demand of collection facilities in three European cities belonging to different Köppen-Geiger climate zones (Cfb, Csa, and Dfb), under recent past (1981-2010) and near/far future climate scenarios (2021-2050 and 2071-2100) from two Shared Socioeconomic Pathways (SSP2-4.

In this study, we demonstrate that a deep neural network (DNN) can be trained to reconstruct high-contrast images, resembling those produced by the multistatic Synthetic Aperture (SA) method using a 128-element array, leveraging pre-beamforming radiofrequency (RF) signals acquired through the monostatic SA approach. : A U-net was trained using 27200 pairs of RF signals, simulated considering a monostatic SA architecture, with their corresponding delay-and-sum beamformed target images in a multistatic 128-element SA configuration. The contrast was assessed on 500 simulated test images of anechoic/hyperechoic targets.

Background: Tramadol is increasingly used to treat acute postoperative pain among older adults following total hip and knee arthroplasty (THA/TKA). However, tramadol has a complex pharmacology and may be no safer than full opioid agonists. We compared the safety of tramadol, oxycodone, and hydrocodone among opioid-naïve older adults following elective THA/TKA.
