Introduction: This study investigates factors associated with recurrent rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD), macular complications, and visual outcomes after pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) without perfluorocarbon liquids (PFCLs) for primary RRD.
Methods: A longitudinal cohort study included consecutive patients with RRD who underwent PFCL-free PPV. Postoperative visual acuity and spectral-domain optical coherence tomography findings [cystoid macular edema (CME), epiretinal membrane (ERM), ellipsoid zone/interdigitation zone (EZ/IZ) damage] were collected.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the 5-year recurrence rate of pilonidal sinus disease (PSD) after endoscopic sinusectomy and identify risk factors for recurrence.
Methods: All consecutive patients from September 2011 through December 2017 who underwent endoscopic sinusectomy at seven referral centres for pilonidal sinus treatment were retrospectively analysed from a prospectively maintained database.
Results: Out of 290 patients (185 males versus 105 female, with a mean age of 25.
Purpose: To describe the ocular clinical and imaging findings of a patient with isolated vitreous metastasis, confirmed by vitreous biopsy, from an anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK)-positive metastatic lung cancer.
Methods: Case report.
Results: A 47-year-old woman with a history of metastatic ALK-positive lung cancer was referred by her oncologist because of unilateral blurred vision over 4 weeks.
Recently, a haplotype of three single-nucleotide polymorphisms (tri-SNP) in intron 1 of the HLA-DRA1 gene was found to be strongly associated with type 1 diabetes risk in HLA-DR3/3 individuals. The tri-SNP reportedly function as "expression quantitative trait loci," modulating HLA-DR and -DQ expression. The aim was to investigate HLA-DRA1 tri-SNPs in relation to extended HLA class II haplotypes and human peripheral blood cell HLA-DQ cell-surface median fluorescence intensity (MFI), the first-appearing islet autoantibody, and autoimmunity burden.

By using Langford's method for separating strain and size contributions to peak broadening, it was possible, for the first time, to obtain full domain size and dislocation density generalized distribution functions (GDFs). This method was applied to cold-rolled and annealed interstitial-free steel.
