[A case of ANCA negative Wegener's granulomatosis with pulmonary giant bulla showing high level of soluble ICAM-1].

This paper reports a rare case of the limited form of Wegener's granulomatosis (WG) with pulmonary giant bulla, which was pathologically identified only in the lung and showed a high level of soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) but not anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA). A 46 year-old male was admitted for the further examination of right anterior chest pain and dyspnea. Chest X-ray and CT examination showed giant bulla accompanied with the invasive lesions in upper lobe of right lung.

[Clinical studies on fosfomycin sodium following intravenous administration (tissue concentration and clinical efficacy)].

Fosfomycin (FOM) is a synthetic antibiotic having a unique structural formula and bactericidal mechanism and a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity against various bacterial species. It has higher activity in vivo than in vitro. As therapy, FOM-Na in a daily dose of 4 g (2 g X 2) was given by intravenous drip infusion for 5 to 10 days to 6 cases with infectious diseases (2 cases of acute cholecystitis, 3 cases of acute localized peritonitis due to phlegmonous appendicitis and 1 case of acute diffuse peritonitis due to perforative appendicitis).

[UFT concentration in various tissues from cancer patients].

UFT, an antitumor drug combined of Tegafur 1 and Uracil 4, was administered preoperatively to 23 cancer patients including 11 cases of breast, 8 of gastric, 2 of colon and 2 of other cancers. Tissue specimens of different sites and serum samples were collected during the operation: cancer tissues, normal breast, normal gastric, colon or rectal wall, lymph nodes and subcutaneous fatty tissues, etc., and concentrations of tegafur (FT), 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) and uracil were studied using HCLP or GC-MF methods.
