The complexity of selecting for drought tolerance in cassava, influenced by multiple factors, demands innovative approaches to plant selection. This study aimed to identify cassava clones with tolerance to water stress by employing truncated selection and selection based on genomic values for population improvement and genotype evaluation . The Best Linear Unbiased Predictions (BLUPs), Genomic Estimated Breeding Values (GEBVs), and Genomic Estimated Genotypic Values (GETGVs) were obtained based on different prediction models via genomic selection.

Background & Aims: Muscle strength is a key predictor of both quality of life and mortality. Although numerous studies have investigated the relationship between omega-3 (ω-3) intake and muscle strength, the evidence remains inconclusive. Furthermore, it is unclear whether this association is influenced by protein intake.

Introgressive hybridization challenges this assumption by sometimes [or maybe often] leading to mitochondrial introgression, wherein one species' mitochondrial genome is entirely replaced by another's (mitochondrial capture). Such processes result in mitonuclear discrepancies, complicating species delimitation and phylogenetic inference.

Background: The Mustard and Senning operations for dextro-transposition of the great arteries (D-TGA) establish a biventricular physiology with a subaortic right ventricle (sRV). While prolonged QRS has been associated with worse prognosis in these patients, current echocardiographic tools fall short in adequately assessing the (mal)performance and function decline of the sRV during follow-up. The present study is the first to characterize Myocardial Work (MW) indices of the sRV in D-TGA patients after Mustard/Senning repair.

Understanding how diet impacts the cecal and fecal microbiota is crucial for meeting the nutritional needs of horses. High-throughput sequencing and qPCR were used to compare the fecal and cecal microbiota of five healthy horses receiving three different diets: hay diet (HAY), hay + starch and sugar (SS), and hay + fiber and oil ingredients (FO).
