Paired locomotion appendages are hypothesized to have redeployed the developmental program of median appendages, such as the dorsal and anal fins. Compared with paired fins, and limbs, median appendages remain surprisingly understudied. Here, we report that a dominant zebrafish mutant, smoothback (smb), fails to develop a dorsal fin.

The mechanical properties of polymers and metamaterials were investigated to evaluate their application in mimicking the biomechanics of the aortic vessel wall.
Methodology: Uniaxial tensile tests were performed to determine the elastic modulus, mechanical stress, and strain of 3D printed samples.
Cryopreservation, or the storage at liquid nitrogen temperatures (-196°C), of embryogenic cells or somatic embryos allows their long-term conservation without loss of their embryogenic capacity. During the last decade, protocols for cryopreservation of embryogenic material of woody species have been increasing in number and importance. However, despite the large experimental evidence proved in thousands of embryogenic lines, the application for the large-scale conservation of embryogenic material in cryobanks is still limited.

Understanding the action of organic compounds in regulating plant metabolism is important to develop strategies to improve plant growth and production. Bioassays were performed by testing liquid hydrochar concentrations in the range of 0.

Methods: This is a prospective, randomized, double-blind study with 45 patients with unilateral radicular pain in their lower limbs and a single-segment lumbar disc herniation diagnosis. In the intervention group, transforaminal blocks with bupivacaine, dexamethasone, and clonidine were applied and in the control group, distilled water and bupivacaine.
