[Age-dependent thymus involution in experimental iodine deficiency].

The experiment on white Wistar rats provided morphometric and morphofunctional evidence on correlations between the thyroid and thymus in health and thyroid transformation in iodine deficiency. In chronic iodine deficiency the rate and volume of thymic physiological involution increase. Total shrinkage of the parenchyma of cortical and core substances of thymic lobules from juvenile animals reaches 25% in the experimental group vs 11% in the reference group.

[Morphological impairment of oogenesis in experimental iodine-dependent thyroid transformation].

Histophysiology of white rats' ovaries was studied in iodine-deficient and iodine-enriched diets; in such diets kept in pregnancy or postnatal period. The iodine-deficient diet leads to low histofunctional thyroid activity, formation of cysts in the ovaries, slow folliculogenesis, hypotrophy of yellow body tissue, overgrowth of the connective tissue, thickening of the theca of the cavernous follicles, hardening of the vessels of the cortical and core substances. The fertility fell by 18%.
