Introduction: Patients with cleft palate (PCP) frequently show compensatory articulation disorder (CAD). Compensatory errors require a prolonged period of speech intervention. Scaffolding strategies are used for correcting placement and manner of articulation.

Morphometric quantitation of stroma in human benign prostatic hyperplasia.

Objectives: Human benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) consists of three major histologic components: stroma, epithelium, and luminal space. For the relief of bladder outlet obstruction caused by BPH, quantitation of the histologic composition of BPH may aid in selecting treatment. To investigate variation between patients in the stromal percentage of BPH, we performed quantitative morphometry on specimens from patients with clinically significant bladder outlet obstruction obtained by three procedures: open prostatectomy, transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP), and prostate needle biopsy (PNB) just prior to TURP.

The prostate specific antigen (PSA) level has become an important but imperfect means of detecting prostatic carcinoma. PSA index (serum PSA normalized to estimated gland volume) has been suggested to improve the performance characteristics of PSA alone. In an attempt to confirm this observation, we compared serum PSA alone to the PSA index in 218 men undergoing systematic random prostatic needle biopsy.

The following is a review of the data of hepatitis-B serology study obtained during the last sixteen years in the Blood Bank of Navarra. The prevalence of HBsAg carriers is 0.87% (204 positive cases in 23,409 blood donors studied).
