A rat study on the PTEN expression in ovarian tissue in PCOS and folliculogenesis.

The objective of this investigation was to examine alterations in PTEN expression within ovarian tissue in a rat model of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). The analysis also encompassed the examination of PTEN alterations in the ovarian tissue throughout the process of folliculogenesis in rats with normal ovulatory cycles. The study involved 12 adult female Sprague‒Dawley rats randomly assigned to the letrozole-induced polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) group as part of an animal-based research endeavour.

Evaluation of The Effects of Carob ( L.) Fruits on the Puberty of Rats.

Objective: This study was planned to determine the effects of carob use on puberty because of the observation of early puberty or pubertal variants due to the long-term use of carob in our clinic.

Methods: Forty-eight Wistar albino rats, on postnatal day 21, were assigned into two groups female (n=24) and male (n=24). Groups were divided into four groups Control, and Carob-150, Carob-300, and Carob-600.

Antioxidant and analgesic potential of butorphanol in dogs undergoing ovariohysterectomy.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the postoperative analgesic and antioxidant effects of butorphanol given in the preoperative or early postoperative period. Twenty-seven healthy female dogs undergoing ovariohysterectomy were randomly divided into three groups as before surgery group (BSG, n = 7) received butorphanol 30 min before preanesthetic administration, after surgery group (ASG, n = 10) received butorphanol during the last skin suture and the control group (CG, n = 10) received no butorphanol. Pain was assessed with short form of the Glasgow composite pain scale (CMPS-SF).

Plasma concentration and uterine and ovarian expressions of insulin-like growth factor-2 in dogs with cystic endometrial hyperplasia-pyometra.

The objective of this study was to investigate the plasma concentrations of insulin-like growth factor-2 (IGF-2) as well as its expression in the uterus and ovary of healthy dogs and those with cystic endometrial hyperplasia (CEH)-pyometra complex. Group 1 (n = 10) included bitches with open cervix pyometra, while Group 2 (n = 7) consisted of clinically healthy bitches in dioestrus. The number of IGF-2 immunopositive interstitial cells was significantly higher in Group 1, whereas in Group 2 there were only two cases in which a few cells were IGF-2 immunopositive.

Investigation of diagnostic use of serum anti-Müllerian hormone concentration in dioestrus and anoestrus bitches before and after ovariohysterectomy and the relationship with ovarian follicle numbers.

The aims of the study were to (1) compare the serum concentration of anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) with the number of follicles in ovaries and (2) determine the serum AMH con- centration before and after ovariohysterectomy in dioestrus and anoestrus bitches. Sixteen bitches were divided into two groups: Group I (n=8) consisted of dioestrus and group II (n=8) anoestrus bitches. The blood samples for AMH assesment were taken before ovariohysterectomy (day 0) and on day 1, 5 and 10.
