A rapid Soxhlet and mini-SPE method for analysis of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in atmospheric particles.

An analytical method was validated with two reference materials of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in atmospheric particles. Standard reference materials (SRMs) were incorporated into the matrix of unexposed cut quartz filters. The methodology was previously designed and extraction of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) from fortified filters was based on a rapid low-cost method, for a low consumption of volume and time.

[Early detection of the problematic Internet use in adolescents, in pediatrics of primary care.].

Objective: Use of the Internet has grown exponentially and adolescents are considered one of the most vulnerable groups in this new environment. Hence the problematic use of the Internet (PIU) at this stage has become a concern for a growing number of researchers. Taking into account the interest that this issue has generated at many levels, the aim of this paper is to find the prevalence of PIU among adolescents in the health area of Vigo (Spain).

[Prevalence of BreastFeeding in a Galician Health Area, Spain].

Objective: The quantitative evaluation of actions to promote breastfeeding, with standardized material and method, is essential to understand their impact and allow international comparison. The aim was to know the prevalence of breastfeeding in Galician Health Area.

Background: Wardrop's formula to estimate available oxygen has been used to assess non-critically ill pre-term newborn infants (PTNIs) of 28-32 weeks gestational age who may need red blood cell transfusion ( RBCT ). The use of this formula has not been analyzed in critically-ill PTNIs. The objective of this study was to compare available oxygen levels before and after RBCTs in critically-ill PTNIs of 28-36 weeks gestational age, and to assess is potential usefulness.
