Building on the material specificity theory, we tested the hypothesis that visual memory deficits are associated with posterior hippocampal atrophy, whereas verbal memory deficits are associated with anterior hippocampal atrophy.
Methods: We studied 22 adults with mTLE and HS, calculating hippocampal head, body, and tail volumes, correcting for estimated total intracranial volume, using automated segmentation.

Objective: To study the effects of human herpes virus 6 (HHV-6) on the hippocampal volume in patients with mesial temporal sclerosis (MTS).
Background: HHV-6 may play an etiologic role in MTS. Previous studies found a possible association with febrile status epilepticus.
Uveitis describes a group of inflammatory conditions of the eye that have various underlying causes and clinical presentations. Susceptibilities to uveitis in the elderly may be attributed to age-related risk factors such as immunosenescence, increased immunological inflammatory mediators, and autoimmunity. Overall, anterior uveitis is more common than posterior and panuveitis in the general population and also in the elderly.
