The basis of modern tooth whitening systems is the use of a whitening gel, which usually contains hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide. The study included 81 patients aged 22 to 35 years with a tooth color A2 and a darker color on the Vita Classic scale. The purpose of our research was to identify a new approach to whitening teeth to improve safety and gentleness.

One of the most important functions of the oral fluid is to maintain oral homeostasis. Using the ABO antibody-antigen model the influence of natural metabolite pyruvate on the antibody interaction with of erythrocyte antigens, defining their group specificity has been investigated. Before agglutination reaction erythrocytes of A(II)-AB(IV) blood groups, monoclonal anti-A and anti-B antibodies were incubated with sodium pyruvate. Visualization of agglutinates was performed by means of flow cytometry and laser scanning confocal microscopy.

Interrelationships between parameters of humoral immunity with AB0 blood groups have been investigated. The highest content of IgA to transglutaminase was found in A(II) patients, while the lowest content was found in AB(IV) patients. The blood content on anti-gliadin IgA was higher in healthy donors.

Hydrogen peroxide has been found to have a distorting effect on the quality of determination of the serological markers of hepatitis B and C, transglutaminase antibodies: an increase in the percent of false higher (anti-HBsAg, HBeAg, anti-HCV) and false lower (anti-HBeAg) values, and on the results of PCR-based diagnosis (PCR inhibition that was more pronounced especially in low viremia). A possibility of interference of measurement results in the blood metabolite pool should be taken into account in the use of high-technology methods of laboratory analysis. In particular, there may be changes in the detection of immunological and molecular biological methods in hyperpyruvatemia and hyperoxaloacetatemia, with elevated peroxide concentrations during pathological processes.
