RNA polymerase III (Pol III) transcribes short, essential RNAs, including the U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA). At U6 snRNA genes, Pol III is recruited by the snRNA Activating Protein Complex (SNAPc) and a Brf2-containing TFIIIB complex, forming a pre-initiation complex (PIC). Uniquely, SNAPc also recruits Pol II at the remaining splicesosomal snRNA genes (U1, 2, 4 and 5).

The Use of Antimicrobial Washes to Inactivate Shiga Toxin-Producing Escherichia coli from In-Shell Pecans and Wash Water Contaminated by Different Inoculation Routes.

In-shell pecans are typically harvested after falling from trees to the ground, presenting a potential route of contamination of foodborne pathogens from soil contact. In-shell pecans are often subjected to various processing or washing steps prior to being shelled. This study determined Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC) reductions after treatment with antimicrobial washes on direct and soil-inoculated in-shell pecans and evaluated the cross-contamination potential of the spent pecan washes after treatment.

Psychometric properties of the Mini-Balance Evaluation Systems Test and physical function measures in patients with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome/hypermobility spectrum disorders.

Purpose: Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) and hypermobility spectrum disorders (HSD) are associated with impairments in balance and physical function. However, the psychometric properties of relevant outcome measures remain largely unexplored. The objectives of this study were to evaluate the construct validity of the Mini-Balance Evaluation Systems Test (Mini-BESTest) alongside the test-retest reliability of the Mini-BESTest, Six Minute Walk Test (6MWT), and Lower Extremity Functional Scale (LEFS) in patients with the hypermobility subtype of EDS (hEDS) and HSD.

Transporter Protein Expression of Corneal Epithelium in Rabbit and Porcine: Evaluation of Models for Ocular Drug Transport Study.

The transcorneal route is the main entry route for drugs to the intraocular parts, after topical administration. The outer surface, the corneal epithelium (CE), forms the rate-limiting barrier for drug permeability. Information about the role and protein expression of drug and amino acid transporter proteins in the CE is sparse and lacking.
