Patellar tendon rupture (PTR) is a rare and severe postoperative complication of total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Even rarer is the intraoperative occurrence of PTR during TKA. PTR is a major complication as it can lead to chronic disability, functional limitations, and postoperative morbidity.

However, there is a relative paucity of outcomes data; so, the aim of this retrospective study was to investigate outcomes and complications after dorsal spanning plate fixation for distal radius fractures.
Methods: Distal radius fractures treated with dorsal spanning plate fixation at a level-1 trauma center were retrospectively identified via Current Procedural Terminology coding and chart review from 2014 to 2019.
Summary: Advances in 3D live cell microscopy are enabling high-resolution capture of previously unobserved processes. Unleashing the power of modern machine learning methods to fully benefit from these technologies is, however, frustrated by the difficulty of manually annotating 3D training data. MiCellAnnGELo virtual reality software offers an immersive environment for viewing and interacting with 4D microscopy data, including efficient tools for annotation.

Dietary modelling was applied to determine the theoretical impact of improving dairy products consumption on nutrient adequacy in 4-5-year-old Brazilian children.
Methods: Adherence to the dairy recommendation of two servings/day was calculated using data from the Brazil Kids Nutrition and Health Study (KNHS) (n = 228).
The need to consume adequate dietary protein to preserve physical function during ageing is well recognized. However, the effect of protein intakes on glucose metabolism is still intensively debated. During age-related estrogen withdrawal at the time of the menopause, it is known that glucose homeostasis may be impaired but the influence of dietary protein levels in this context is unknown.
