In a joint study carried out by Gerresheimer, Sterigenics and Früh, it could be shown that also NO is well suited to terminally sterilize prefilled ophthalmic syringes. In detail 5 topics were addressed: (1) Compare EtO vs. NO penetration into the filled syringe; (2) Analyze gas ingress though 4 different plunger stoppers including silicone oil free and standard rubber plungers; (3) Scrutinize gas ingress through 2 different cap designs based on different elastomer properties; (4) Investigate gas permeation through COP plastic barrels compared to glass; (5) Check if the Tyvek®-layer has an influence on either sterilization.

Currently, most patients with diabetes in the United States receive a referral from their primary care provider to see an ophthalmologist for their annual dilated eye exam, which can be an added inconvenience and expense. As such, there is a need for alternative screening strategies within an outpatient network.

Evaluating children with CdLS, this study: (1) characterizes the spectrum of RBs; (2) characterizes the impact and severity of RBs including SIB; (3) describes how age and adaptive functioning relate to RBs including SIB. Fifty children (5-17 years) with CdLS were assessed with Children's Yale-Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale Modified for PDD; Aberrant Behavior Checklist (ABC); Vineland Adaptive Behaviors Scales (VABS).

View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: The reproducibility of transcranial Doppler (TCD) ultrasound measurements in Sturge-Weber syndrome (SWS) and TCD's ability to predict neurological progression is unknown.
Methods: In 14 individuals with SWS, TCD measured mean flow velocity, pulsatility index, peak systolic velocity, and end-diastolic velocity in the middle, posterior, and anterior cerebral arteries of the affected and unaffected hemisphere. TCD was performed either once (n = 5) or twice in one day (n = 9).
