A mathematical model of the changes in the size and genetic diversity of a harvested, single-locus Mendelian population under the conditions of density-dependent selection is analyzed, with a special emphasis on the possibility of conserving or loosing polymorphism as a result of equilibrium harvesting. It is demonstrated that harvesting leads to changes in intrapopulation parameters under the conditions of density-dependent selection; as a result, the genotypes that were the least fit in an unharvested population will prove more fit, the genetic composition of the population at equilibrium being changed accordingly. Thus, harvesting may, under different conditions, either conserve or reduce the genetic diversity of the population.

A pressing problem is discussed: forensic medical evaluation of harm inflicted to health by slight craniocerebral injuries. Analysis of 2150 expert forensic medical and medico-social conclusions revealed serious organization and methodological errors in evaluation of harm inflicted to health by slight craniocerebral injuries. Approaches to improving the quality of such forensic medical expert evaluations are outlined.

The behaviour of energy and growth parameters for a synchronous Escherichia coli culture was studied in the course of aerobic-anaerobic transitions induced by either reversible or constant cessation of aeration at different phases of the cell cycle. The intracellular concentrations of ATP, ADP and AMP were assayed using a technique developed by the authors and based on thin-layer chromatography of adenyl nucleotide dansyl derivatives. Prolonged anaerobiosis led to profound alterations in the energy status which diminished the energy flux in constructional processes and preserved the energy resources for maintenance needs.
