Hepatitis B is an infectious disease that inflicts high health and economic costs on the healthcare system. Poor adherence to treatment increases that cost. We aimed to assess the levels of knowledge, attitudes and practices (KAP) among patients in the West Bank, Palestine, and identify factors associated with good adherence.

Using impulse oscillometry (IOS) and spirometry, we assessed the functionalities of the large and small airways, respectively, in patients with UCC and in healthy control subjects. Methods On a single occasion, 50 patients with UCC (mean age, 61 years; 82% women) and 23 subjectively healthy controls (mean age, 58.

Here, we quantify 1293 blood plasma proteins from 157 longitudinally linked plasma samples collected before, during, and after hyperacute HIV-1 infection of 54 participants from four sub-Saharan African countries. Six distinct longitudinal expression profiles are identified, of which four demonstrate a consistent decrease in protein levels following HIV-1 infection.

Objectives: Carotid artery calcification (CAC) is occasionally detected in panoramic radiographs (PRs). Bilateral vessel-outlining (BVO) CACs are independent risk markers for future vascular events and have been associated with large plaque area. If accounting for plaque area, BVO CACs may no longer be an independent risk marker for vascular events.

An embolic mechanism can be reflected by the occurrence of microembolic signals (MES) on transcranial Doppler. This study aimed to compare the incidence of MES between patients with symptomatic near occlusion, symptomatic conventional ≥ 50% stenosis, and asymptomatic ≥ 50% stenosis.
