Cell-adhesion molecules (CAMs) are responsible for cell-cell, cell-extracellular matrix, and cell-pathogen interactions. Claudins (CLDNs), occludin (OCLN), and junctional adhesion molecules (JAMs) are CAMs' components of the tight junction (TJ), the single protein structure tasked with safeguarding the paracellular space. The TJ is responsible for controlling paracellular permeability according to size and charge.

Article Synopsis
  • Bone mineral density (BMD) is primarily influenced by genetics, particularly in childhood and adolescence, but environmental factors like exercise and calcium intake can also play a role.
  • The study aimed to investigate the effects of high calcium intake from dairy on various health metrics in late adolescent females and assess long-term acceptability of dairy consumption.
  • Results showed no significant differences in body composition or health markers between those who received dairy supplementation and those who did not, suggesting the effects of supplementation might not persist after it ends.
