Background: The Lovisenberg Diakonal Hospital recently introduced an Open-Door Policy in their (formerly) closed psychiatric admission wards for people with a forced admission to an acute psychiatric crisis. Their modern mental health care system is remarkably similar to the Dutch healthcare organization, with shared values and standards, and provides good grounds for an implementation of an Open-Doors Policy in the Netherlands.

Anxiety-prone individuals encounter challenges in social functioning, yet research on learning under uncertainty in social contexts is limited.

Background: Patients undergoing major oncological abdominal surgery are prone to postoperative complications, making early recognition crucial. Clinical deterioration is often preceded by changes in vital signs, which are typically measured thrice a day by a nurse. However, intermittent measurements may delay recognizing clinical deterioration.

Realist Approach to Social Policies (RASP) study to reduce socioeconomic health inequalities through systems change: protocol for a research project combining mixed-methods realist research with institutional action research.

Introduction: Health inequalities are rooted in inequality in vital resources for health, including financial resources, a supportive informal network, a stable living situation, work or daytime activities or education and literacy. About 25% of Dutch citizens experience deprivation of such resources. Social policy consists of crucial instruments for improving resources in those groups but can also have adverse effects and lead to additional burdens.
