Essentially, the blood-brain barrier (BBB) serves as a line of demarcation between neural tissues and the bloodstream. A unique and protective characteristic of the blood-brain barrier is its ability to maintain cerebral homeostasis by regulating the flux of molecules and ions. The inability to uphold proper functioning in any of these constituents leads to the disruption of this specialized multicellular arrangement, consequently fostering neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration.

Article Synopsis
  • Researchers developed magnetic/pH-sensitive microspheres using graphene oxide, chitosan, and iron oxide for targeted cancer treatment.
  • The microspheres were effective in delivering the drug temozolomide, with improved release rates when exposed to a magnetic field compared to no field.
  • Experiments showed the microspheres were effective against glioblastoma cells, particularly when using a magnetic field, indicating their potential for controlled drug delivery systems in cancer therapy.

The development of low-cost, eco-friendly, and earth-friendly electrode materials for energy storage and conversion applications is a highly desirable but challenging task for strengthening the existing renewable energy systems. As part of this study, orange peel extract was utilized to synthesize a magnesium oxide-silicon dioxide hybrid substrate system (MgO-SiO) for coating cobalt oxide nanostructures (CoO) hydrothermal methods. A variety of MgO-SiO compositions were used to produce CoO nanostructures.

Olive trees are known as one of the most iconic crops in the world. Considering the increasing water deficit worldwide, implementing some profitable and empirical strategies can be inevitable upon exposure to drought stress. Therefore, the present study aimed at clarifying the beneficial role of exogenously foliar application of FeO modified carbon nitride nanostructures (control, FeSO, CN and FeO/g-CN) to "Shengeh" olive cultivars grown at different watering levels (100, 75, and 50% ET) in two experimental years (2022 and 2023) and the pomological attributes, physiological and biochemical changes happening in the treated leaves and fruits were discussed.
