Obese people are at high risk of developing infections, including COVID-19, and are prone to a more severe course and a poorer prognosis of diseases. The review summarizes information on the post-vaccination immune response in obesity in children and adults with infections. The SARS-COV-2 pandemic further exacerbates this problem of the adequacy of the immune response to vaccination of obese people.

Some parameters of natural immunity under conditions of the diets with optimal (18%) and excessive (28,33 and 43% by caloric value) protein content were studied in male Wistar rats. It was shown that a number of the parameters studied (the content of complement, lysozyme, beta-lysines, the normal antibody titer, phagocytic activity of leukocytes, skin bactericidal action) decreased with the elevation of the protein content in the diets 3 months after the beginning of the experiment. The bactericidal activity of the blood serum in all the animal groups remained unchanged.
