Guava fruits have a short shelf life due to climacteric nature. The current work was conducted to extend the shelf life of guavas with garlic extract (GRE), ginger extract (GNE), gum arabic (GA), and (AV) gel coatings. After coating, fruits of guava were stored at 25 ± 3 °C and RH 85 ± 2% for 15 days.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on the cultivated strawberry, which has been the subject of increased genetic research, specifically looking at sucrose metabolism in two varieties: 'Rubygem' and 'Fortuna'.
  • The research examines fruit development stages (red, pink, green, and white), finding red fruits contained the highest sugar content while green fruits had the lowest; overall sugar levels were similar between varieties.
  • The study reveals a positive correlation between sugar content and invertase enzyme activity, but a negative correlation between enzyme activity and gene expression, with the lowest invertase activities observed in green fruits.
